Description:
Wall-hanging with miniature items of baby clothing and accessories, including a blanket, swaddler (ashukueai) and rattle. Made of cotton and smoked caribou hide, beads and bric-a-brac and appliquéd on canvas.
Other Info:
These wall-hangings are recent innovations made by Innu craftswomen for display in their homes and those of their friends and relatives, or for sale in the craft trade. They represent miniaturized examples of “traditional” clothing worn by the Innu in the pre-settlement period, as well as moccasins and other objects.
